Day 84: Give Back Golf Outing

This is one of the most fun things I do all year. It raises money for Give Back which is a big plus, but even if the CSL Golf Outing benefited another organization, I'd still go. It's an absolute blast. An early start, a few too many beers, and poker in the evening means no time for biking, but that's okay since tomorrow is the Morning Glory Bike Ride.

Day 83: PTO - AKA Forced Vacation

I guess I couldn't complain, but my companies new policy of 'use it or lose it' vacation time means I'll be taking pretty much every Friday and Monday off the month of August. Some of that works out, as I will be in Vegas and Montreal this month for bachelor parties, but it also means some time off with nothing planned. That's something I don't think I've ever done in my professional career...taken a day off just because.

Anyway, it allows me to go two things I love today, go for a nice long morning bike ride and then tee off for 18 in the afternoon... maybe I can get used to this not working thing :)

Oh... and saw wedding crashes tonight... very very funny. More than I expected.

Day 82: Rest Before the weekend

I have two big rides before this weekend on Friday and Sunday, so I am going to take it easy Thursday night. Spend a little time around the house, as we're ripping down the wallpaper in the kitchen, with the hope that it's all done by labor day for our annual party...

Day 81: Ecuador Team Meeting

I think I mentioned in an early post, that buying my airline ticket triggered my awareness that I was actually going to Ecuador. However, I still don't think it's quite hit me yet that the team of 12 are going to be the folks I am in Ecuador with. The group is really starting to come together and feel more comfortable with each other (something that I think the give back trips give a huge benefit over going on a trip where you don't meet your team until you arrive in the destination country). Selam has done an amazing job at creating some simple 'get-to-know-you' type team building exercises. I can say that I usually think those types of things are cheesy, but these are really fun, and it gives you a great insight into the dynamics of the group.

Our next fundraiser is next Sunday, if you like cornhole, check out the event on the give back website.

Day 80: More Utility Biking

Today I continue my new found love of utility biking. It's just great to incorporate some exercise into everyday life. Sure, I could get to volleyball about 5 minutes faster if I drove, but biking allows me to exercise too.

I wish I could ride to and from work more often, but the searing heat even at 7:30 AM, makes it difficult since work does not have locker room facilities. I'm pretty sure my co-workers wouldn't appreciate me coming in drenched in sweat.

Day 79: Home Stretch - Last Month

Well, the 100 day challenge kicks off it's final month. The challenge ends Aug. 23rd (but not my biking, I'm hooked!). I know I have a lot of biking this month to catch up on some missed time. However, to prepare for this, I'm going to take the first day off. Morning Glory is this Sunday, and that should be my longest ride yet!

Day 78: A New Route and a pool party

Pulled out my trusty 'safe bike routes' map provided by OKI, and looked for a new ride.. and I found an awesome little loop. Starting at my place in Newport, heading down to the newport riverfront, and then along Dodd Ave in Bellevue and Dayton... this dumps you to Route 8, which I took along the river all the way to 275, then up and amazingly steep long hill on River Road.. It was an 8degree grade for like a mile and a half.. i thought my heart was going to explode. But once that dumps into Ft. Thomas it's smooth sailing. All the way bake to Newport...

Now... it's off to a pool party with my nieces and nephew... I can't remember the last pool party I've been to and I'm pumped!
